Website Rescue

What Happens When Your WordPress Site Breaks — and How I Fix It

When a WordPress site breaks, it’s rarely just one thing.
It might be an update gone wrong, a plugin conflict, a hack, or something deeper at the server level.

Whatever the cause, the goal is the same:
stabilise the site, fix the problem properly, and get everything working again
— without making things worse.

If you’re ready, you can start a rescue here.
Or take a moment to understand how it works below.

What’s Likely Happening

If your site has suddenly stopped working, it’s usually one of a handful of things.

YThese problems look different on the surface, but they usually come down to a small number of root causes.

Handled properly, they’re fixable.

Your site is down

White screen, error message, or nothing at all.

You’ve been hacked

Spam content, strange users, or warnings from Google.

You’re locked out

Login not working, password reset failing, or admin access gone.

Update broke your site

A plugin, theme, or WordPress update caused critical errors.

Hacked, Broken, Offline, or
Glitchy WordPress Websites

If your site is showing any of the following symptoms, Website Rescue is the right place to start:

  • Hacked or infected sites (spam content, malicious redirects)
  • White Screen of Death, fatal errors, plugin or theme conflicts
  • Slow or timing-out websites (especially on budget hosting)
  • Broken layouts after updates or changes
  • Checkout, payment or form failures
  • SSL warnings, mixed content or strange redirects
  • DNS or hosting issues after a move or change
  • “My site just vanished” – migrations, restores or missing content

Every rescue includes diagnosis, fix, cleanup, and performance stabilisation — handled properly, not patched.

How the rescue works

3 Steps to Getting Your Site Back

You don’t need to figure this out on your own.
Here’s what happens once you reach out:

01

Start the rescue

Fill in a short form so I can see what’s happening with your site.

If you’re not sure what to include, that’s fine — just describe what you’re seeing.

02

I assess the issue

I’ll take a proper look at the site, identify what’s actually gone wrong,
and let you know:

  • What the issue is
  • What it will take to fix
  • Whether it’s recoverable

No guesswork, no vague answers.

03

Fix and restore

Once approved, I will repair the site properly and get everything working again.

That includes stability, security, and making sure the issue doesn’t immediately return.

Most rescues are completed the same day.
If it can’t be fixed, you don’t pay.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Website Rescue is an emergency repair service for broken, hacked, or slow websites — most often WordPress. I diagnose the issue, restore your site, secure it, and make sure everything’s working again — fast. Think of it as digital roadside assistance for your website.

For emergencies, I aim to reply within 15 minutes during business hours and as soon as possible after hours. Most sites are back online within 24 hours, depending on the issue and access provided.

I specialise in WordPress, which powers over 40% of the web. However, I can often help with other platforms (like Wix or Shopify) on a case-by-case basis.

My policy is simple: no fix, no fee. If I can’t resolve the problem, you get a full refund. It’s part of my “results and service trump dollars” philosophy.

The standard rescue is AUD $250 and covers the first three hours of hands-on work. If extra time is needed, I’ll discuss options and costs with you before going further. All pricing is in AUD and currently GST-free.

Usually yes. To properly diagnose and fix your site I’ll need access to your WordPress dashboard, hosting control panel and sometimes your domain or DNS settings. All credentials are handled carefully and deleted once the work is complete.

Part of any security-related rescue is hardening your site against repeat attacks. That includes cleaning the infection, applying updates, tightening settings and recommending firewalls or monitoring where appropriate. For ongoing protection, I recommend moving onto a WordPress Maintenance Plan.

Maintenance clients get regular updates, off-site backups, security and uptime monitoring, basic performance tuning and priority support for small fixes. Plans are month-to-month with no lock-in, so you can cancel any time.

I’m proudly based on the Sunshine Coast, but almost all work is completed remotely. Website Rescue operates Australia-wide and most rescues can be handled without any on-site visit.

Not exactly. A rescue gets your site back online and stabilised. If your site is slow but not broken, Website Performance Optimisation may be a better fit.
